GitFiddle  is John and Cathy Granata, a guitar/violin/vocal duo with a multiple personality and history.

John  began playing guitar in the early 60s.
During that decade he also took on the electric guitar, electric bass, mandolin, harmonica and the drum kit. For the following two decades music took a back seat to life until an invitation to play at a local street fair rekindled a desire to play in public. He began slowly but surely building his repertoire and logging gigs in the Hudson Valley.   His style?  Folkrockabillybluesgrass”   It’s a term he says answers the question; “What kind of music do you play?” He performs interpretations and renditions from original and obscure to classics and all points in between

Cathy started playing at 40 years old that was her birthday gift to her self and still haveing fun playing!
She had a taste of the violin in the 5th grade. The lessons didn’t continue, but the desire to play did. That desire was intensified after seeing some local fiddle bands. She became determined to study violin. A Natalie McMaster concert further intensified that determination. She has studied under two of the Hudson Valley’s finest fiddle players.

GitFiddle  was formed to expose Cathy to playing in front of people. It started out playing traditional folk, classic country and bluegrass at assisted living residences and nursing homes. As Cathy’s playing developed, John began to feature her in his shows. The combination of the two soon worked well enough to play Coffee Houses and garner invitations to perform at events and concerts.
